The Stuttgart School Board held a special called meeting Tuesday night to take care of some last-minute school business and to make personnel decisions.
The board officially created the position of Business/Finance Office Clerk for the central office. The position’s pay and the job description were added to the district’s classified salary schedule.
The board officially approved the Community Eligibility Program for grades pre-kindergarten (Pre-K) through sixth grades.
Superintendent Dr. Rick Gales said the board previously voted to discontinue the program for grades 7-12, but the Arkansas Department of Education needs the board to make a formal vote to continue the program in grades Pre-K through sixth.
The board voted to reduce the price of reduced lunch meals to 30 cents for breakfast, and 40 cents for lunch, which is the maximum the district can charge for reduced meals. Gales said the district needed to make the correction because they had initially overpriced the reduced breakfast and lunch meals for the upcoming school year.
The board accepted the following resignations: Chason Bowman and Melissa Martin.
The board hired the following new personnel: Peyton Robertson, junior high teacher/coach; Amy Erstine, Park Avenue Elementary (PAE) teacher; Chad Baxley, junior high teacher; Jenna Bridges, PAE paraprofessional; and Reagan Raper, high school English teacher. Raper will be completing an additional licensure plan to add a new area to her teaching license.
The board hired the following new personnel with the understanding they will complete the requirements for their teaching license by March 31, 2023: Kyler Smith, Beau Lott, Heather Harper, Erica Reeves, Tori Gaston, and Morgan Walter.
The board approved the following transfers: Megan Gray from middle school paraprofessional to computer lab manager and Katina Hawkins from middle school paraprofessional to PAE computer lab.
The board made the following changes to the coaching stipend: Logan Prince from junior high assistant football to head junior high football coach, from assistant softball to head softball coach, and removing seventh-grade football; Eric Henderson from junior high head football to assistant high school football coach, and adding seventh-grade football; Dontrell Brown from assistant seventh-grade football to head seventh-grade football coach, and Kelsie Mashburn adding assistant softball coach.
The board thanked Gales, whose contract ended June 30, for his years of service to the Stuttgart School District before adjournment.
The next regular school board meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12 at the board room of the administration building. It will serve as an organizational meeting for the board to usher in the official new school year.
